April 21, 2007
Elvin Eugene Brown, 74, of Duncanville, TX, died on Saturday,
April 21, 2007, after battling cancer for over a year. Born July 15, 1932, in
Hamden, MO, Elvin was the eldest son of the late Dwight Eugene and Ruby Pearl
(Leathers) Brown. He is survived by his wife, Joan, his four children, Stuart
Brown, Douglas Brown, Diane Kee, and Marla Ferguson; and nine grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by a sister, Florine Prather, and is survived by 3
sisters, Watona Waller, Merna Bain, Marlene Senger, and his brother, Dwight
Delon Brown. After serving 4 years in the Navy, he attended the University of
Missouri, graduating with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He began his career
at Collins Rockwell in Cedar Rapids, IA. He then moved to Texas in 1981 to work
for LTV/Loral, until retiring in 1999. An avid genealogist, Elvin established
membership for himself and his family in S.A.R., The Society of Mayflower
Descendents, and Order of the Founders and Patriots. He was a strong supporter
of Troop 68 and firmly believed in the Scouting ideas. His grandson, Troop 68 Eagle
Scout Grant Kee performed Taps in honor of his grandfather. Elvin's greatest joy came from his 50 year marriage to Joan. He
loved, and was much loved by his immediate and extended family. He is remembered
as an anchor of support, a man of honest counsel, an advisor always available,
but never judgmental. Memorial services were April 26, 2007. In lieu of flowers, the family requests
donations be made, in Elvin Brown's name, to: TXSSAR Patriots Fund, in care of
Treasurer Hank Voegtle, 9431 Loma Vista Dr., Dallas, TX, 75243. This is a Sons
of the American Revolution (SAR) youth scholarship fund program.
