Alfred Wallace Moore

1915 - 2007

 

Alfred Wallace Moore, 91, a pioneer in the local rental industry, peacefully passed away Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, at his Arlington home with his family at his bedside.

Memorial service: 2 p.m. Sunday in Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Moore was born in Hopewell Junction, N.Y., on July 24, 1915. He married his wife, Violet, in 1938. Al relocated his family to Texas with Vought Aeronautics in 1948. He and his sons were actively involved in Boy Scout Troop 68, where he contributed his time and effort making awards for the District Jamborees. In 1959, while he still worked at Vought, he and his wife started what became Moore Rental Service in Arlington. Al was a founding member and pioneer of Southwest Rental Association, which later became the Texas Rental Association. He retired from the rental business in 1975 to travel the United States in his motor home with his wife and close friends of the Good Sam's Club. Preceding him in death were his wife of 57 years, Violet, and his grandson, William Cross.
Survivors: His loving daughter, Barbara Cross and husband, Cliff; devoted sons, Robert Moore and wife, Lynn, and Tom Moore; his nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
